Annual Street Rehabilitation and Slurry Seal

The City will be conducting pavement rehabilitation and slurry seal operations in the communities of West Irvine, North Park, and North Park Square. This project includes the application of slurry seal and necessary asphalt repairs to help extend the life of existing streets and maintain the integrity of Irvine’s roadways, ensuring a smoother ride for drivers.

Additionally, in collaboration with Irvine Ranch Water District, the project will involve resetting manhole and water valve covers to grade on streets that have been repaved.

Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, April 1, and will take place weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on residential streets, and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on arterial streets.

Civic Center Parking Lot Rehabilitation

The City continues to make improvement to the Irvine Civivc Center Parking Lot. Phase 2 of the project, which is underway, includes upgrading the storm drain system and installing water quality units, underground conduits for the future carports, and concrete curb for new planter areas.

Phase 2 will impact approximately 150 spaces in both the Civic Center and Irvine Child Development Canter (ICDC) parking lots for approximately the next four weeks, weather permitting. Work is being done Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Additional parking is available off of Harvard Avenue and San Juan.

Access to City Hall and ICDC will be maintained while work is being done.

The parking lot will be improved in six phases to minimize the impact on our community and staff accessing the Civic Center. Once the entire lot is paved, it will be treated with Cool Pavement and restriped as we get ready for solar carports to be installed in 2026.

The entire project is expected to be completed in July.
