March 12–19, 2025

Please note that due to inclement weather, the following scheduled roadwork activities may be postponed. We will provide updates on work as it is rescheduled.

In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance our City on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.

Jeffrey Open Space Trail Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge Freeway Impacts

As construction on the Jeffrey Open Space Trail (JOST) Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge continues, crews will be placing concrete within the bridge structure. This work will require temporary lane closures along the I-5 Freeway. Additionally, both northbound and southbound off-ramps at Jeffrey Road will be closed.

Partial lane closures of northbound and southbound I-5 Freeway from Culver Drive to Sand Canyon Avenue:

  • Tuesday, March 18, from 9 p.m. to Wednesday, March 19, at 7 a.m.
  • Wednesday, March 19, from 9 p.m. to Thursday, March 20, at 7 a.m.

Overnight closures of northbound and southbound I-5 Freeway off-ramps at Jeffrey Road:

  • Tuesday, March 18, from 9 p.m. to Wednesday, March 19, at 7 a.m.
  • Wednesday, March 19, from 9 p.m. to Thursday, March 20, at 7 a.m.

SR-55 Improvement Project – Northbound Dyer Road Off-Ramp Extended Closure

Orange County Transportation Authority crews will be replacing the pavement along the northbound State Route 55 (SR-55) Dyer Road off-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp and the outside lane on northbound SR-55 between MacArthur Boulevard and Dyer Road.

The outside lane and off-ramp are expected to be closed Friday, March 14, at 9 p.m. to Monday, March 17, at 5 a.m., weather permitting.

Detour signs will be posted in advance. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before traveling through the area. View the latest closures and detours.

Nightly Closure: Southbound State Route 133 Connector to Northbound I-5

The following overnight closures of the southbound State Route 133 (SR-133) connector to the northbound I-5 Freeway continue through Friday, March 14.

Southbound SR-133 Connector to Northbound I-5: March 10–14:

  • There will be a full road closure through Thursday, March 13, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. and Friday, March 14, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

    DETOUR: Exit on Irvine Boulevard and turn right. Turn left on Sand Canyon Avenue and turn right to take the on-ramp to northbound 5.

Southbound SR-133 Connector to Northbound I-5: March 11–14:

  • There will be a full road closure through Thursday, March 13, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. and Friday, March 14, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

    DETOUR: Continue southbound on the SR-133. Exit on Barranca Parkway and turn left. Turn right on Irvine Center Drive and then turn left on Aton Parkway. Turn right on Enterprise Drive and turn left to take the on-ramp to southbound 5.

Nightly Ramp Closures: State Route 73

The following nightly ramp closures in Irvine will continue on State Route 73 (SR-73) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, March 14.

  • The Bison Avenue on-ramp from southbound SR-73

DETOUR: Turn right on MacArthur Boulevard and then left on Bonita Canyon Road. Turn right to take the on-ramp to southbound SR-73.

  • The Newport Coast Drive off-ramp from northbound SR-73

DETOUR: Exit on Bonita Canyon Road and turn left. Turn left to take the on-ramp to southbound SR-73 and exit on Newport Coast Drive.
