March 5–12, 2025

In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance our City on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.

Irvine Center Drive Pavement Rehabilitation from
Pacifica to Lake Forest Drive

The Irvine Center Drive Pavement Rehabilitation Project will remove and replace asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, curb ramps, and sidewalk as well as improve Irvine Ranch Water District's infrastructure and manhole covers and make additional utility adjustments.

The next phase of work will continue through April. Work will be done Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Irvine Center Drive to Pacifica.

The entire project is anticipated to be complete in spring 2025.

Northbound MacArthur Boulevard On-Ramp Closure Extended

Crews will be removing and pouring concrete to reconstruct the northbound State Route 55 MacArthur Boulevard straight on-ramp, which will require an extended closure of the ramp. 

The on-ramp is closed and is expected to be reopen to motorists by Monday, March 10, at 5 a.m.

In addition, crews are expected to replace the pavement of the outside lane on northbound SR-55 between MacArthur Boulevard and Dyer Road. This work will require an extended closure of the outside lane, Friday, March 7, at 10 p.m. to Monday, March 10, at 5 a.m.

Eastbound Irvine Boulevard On-Ramp to Northbound 133 Closure

The eastbound Irvine Boulevard on-ramp to northbound State Route 133 will be fully closed Thursday, March 6, from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.

DETOUR: Continue eastbound on Irvine Boulevard and make a U-turn at the light on Ridge Valley. Take a slight right to the northbound SR-133 on-ramp.

Nightly Closure: Southbound State Route 133 Connector to Northbound I-5

Overnight closures of the southbound State Route 133 connector to the northbound I-5 Freeway continue through Friday, March 7, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

DETOUR: Exit on Irvine Boulevard and turn right. Turn left on Sand Canyon Avenue and turn right to take the on-ramp to northbound 5.

Nightly Ramp Closures: State Route 73

The following nightly ramp closures in Irvine will continue on State Route 73 through Friday, March 7, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • The Newport Coast Drive off-ramp from northbound SR-73

DETOUR: Exit on Bonita Canyon Road and turn left. Turn left to take the on-ramp to southbound SR-73 and exit on Newport Coast Drive.

  • The Bonita Canyon Road off-ramp from northbound SR-73

DETOUR: Exit on Bison Avenue and turn left. Turn left to take the on-ramp to southbound SR-73 and exit on Bonita Canyon Drive.
