Road Construction & Improvement Projects

February 5–12, 2025

In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance our City on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.

Jeffrey & Alton Intersection Improvements: On-Going Work

As part of the Jeffrey/Alton Intersection Improvement project, one left-turn lane in each direction along Alton Parkway at Jeffrey Road is closed through late February. Work is being done Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Crews are removing and replacing asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, curb ramps, and sidewalk, as well as modifying traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Jeffrey Road and Alton Parkway.

Every effort is being made to keep traffic flowing and minimize disruptions during the work, but delays should be expected, and motorists should consider using alternate routes. The entire project is anticipated to be complete in May.

Curb Ramp Improvements

The City of Irvine is working to improve several curb ramps to enhance accessibility. Work is currently being done from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note trails will be closed until the work is completed.

  • Creek Road at the San Diego Creek Trail: Access to the trail will be closed through Friday, February 7.

Northbound MacArthur Boulevard On-Ramp Extended Closure

Crews are currently pouring concrete to reconstruct the northbound State Route 55 (SR-55) MacArthur Boulevard loop on-ramp, which requires an extended closure of the ramp through Thursday, February 13, at 5 a.m.

In addition, crews will continue performing electrical work at the MacArthur Boulevard bridge. MacArthur underneath the freeway, as well as the northbound and southbound on-ramps, will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, February 7.

The work is being done by OCTA in cooperation with Caltrans to improve four miles of SR-55 between the I-405 and I-5 Freeways. The project will add one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction to help with traffic flow and improve mobility. Please visit octa.net/55Construction for more information.
