2025 Special Municipal Election: Council District 5
The City of Irvine will hold a Special Municipal Election Tuesday, April 15, for a Councilmember to represent Council District 5 through the end of 2026.
All registered voters in Council District 5 will receive a combined voter information guide and a vote-by-mail ballot beginning the week of March 17. Ballots can be returned by mail, at a ballot drop box beginning March 17, or at a Vote Center beginning April 5. For information, visit cityofirvine.org/election.

Fair Housing Work Shop
Join us Thursday, February 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Irvine City Hall for a free workshop on fair housing rights and responsibilities.
Attendees will learn about protections under state and federal fair housing laws — including tenant and landlord rights, notices, security deposits, rent increases, and the Tenant Relief Act, plus other key topics.

The City of Irvine and University of California, Irvine will host City of Irvine Day at Bren Events Center February 8, inviting residents to watch the UCI Men’s Basketball team face UC San Diego. The event celebrates the partnership between the City and UCI, fostering community engagement through sports.

City of Irvine Plants Heritage Trees at the Great Park
The City of Irvine reaffirmed its commitment to a greener future by planting coast live oak trees at the Great Park this week, with more to be added as development progresses.
The trees were planted near Great Park Live along Corsair. They will enhance the beauty of the park while providing cleaner air through carbon dioxide absorption.

This Week in DE&I
There are many cultural and religious holidays celebrated and recognized throughout our community this month. Learn about some of the significant dates being observed in Irvine below and on our DE&I calendar.
February 10: International Epilepsy Day Observed annually on the second Monday of February, International Epilepsy Day raises awareness and fights stigma. It promotes education, advocates for better care, and supports research funding. People participate by wearing purple, sharing stories, and supporting epilepsy organizations.
February 11: Marine Battalion Day A day proclaimed by the City of Irvine to honor the 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division for their service and dedication, as well as to recognize the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee for its continued support of the battalion and their families.
February 13: Tu BiShvat Known as the "New Year of the Trees," Tu BiShvat is a Jewish holiday that celebrates nature and environmental awareness. Traditions include planting trees, eating fruits, and promoting sustainability.
