Road Construction & Improvement Projects

August 27-September 4, 2024

In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance our City on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.

 Full Southbound I-5 Freeway Closure

As part of the Jeffrey Open Space Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge Project, all lanes of the southbound I-5 Freeway will be closed from Culver Drive to Jeffrey Road Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8, from 1 to 5 a.m.

Southbound I-5 Freeway on-ramps will also be closed at Culver Drive and Jeffrey Road. Detour signage will be in place at Culver Drive directing traffic onto Irvine Center Drive and Sand Canyon Avenue.

The work being done includes erecting falsework steel beams and plywood forms over and across the freeway. It will generate construction noise, including equipment backup alarms and heavy equipment engines, and additional lighting may be required. The Jeffrey Open Space Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge is expected to be completed in March 2026.
