Work Begins on Center Improvements for Irvine's Animals 

The Irvine Animal Care Center is being renovated and expanded. The City of Irvine is committed to providing a safe, clean, enriching, and caring environment for animals awaiting adoption. 

When complete, the center will offer visitors a highly visible, welcoming entrance; an updated reception area; animal interaction areas; and multi-purpose rooms for adoption events, training, and meetings. The animals will enjoy upgraded kennels, improved air conditioning, and renovated activity yards to improve their care and comfort. 

The center will remain open during the renovation process and animals will continue to receive the highest level of care. Temporary locations will be set up as needed, complete with barriers, to ensure animal safety, comfort, and well-being. The project is set to be completed by summer 2026. Learn more online. 

Enjoy a Swim and a Movie

Grab your swimsuit, floatie, and family, and come to William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center Saturday, August 24, for a night of family fun.

Swim and float while The Super Mario Bros. Movie plays on the big screen. Lifeguards will be on duty. The pool opens at 6:30 p.m., and the movie starts at dusk. 

The swim fee is $2 for children and $4 for adults. Learn more at irvineaquatics.org. 

Take a Tour of Your Future Great Park

Do you know all that is to come to the Great Park? With more than 500 acres open today and 300 acres in the next phase of development, the Great Park is a park for all.

Log a Leak with the Irvine Ranch Water District

Help save water in the community with the Irvine Ranch Water District's (IRWD) Log-a-Leak tool.

This reporting system allows you to easily send pictures of outdoor leaks in our community from your smartphone or computer. Visit irwd.com/logaleak to get started. IRWD will then reach out to notify customers.

If you are experiencing a leak on your own property, contact the Irvine Ranch Water District and learn more about checking for leaks on their website.  

Get Ready to Rock and Roll

Join us this Saturday, August 10, and get ready to rock and roll to 1969 the Tribute. This 60's rock and roll band will perform during the City of Irvine's next Summer in the City concert at Mike Ward Community Park — Woodbridge.

The free concert begins at 5:30 p.m. Bring low-back chairs and blankets and picnic-style food. You can also purchase snacks from gourmet food trucks. No tickets or registration required. Seating is first-come, first-served. Learn more at cityofirvine.org/summer.

August 9: International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples:
The International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples is observed August 9 each year to raise awareness and protect the rights of the world's indigenous population. This event also recognizes the achievements and contributions that Indigenous people make to improve world issues such as environmental protection.
