Road Construction & Improvement Projects June 5-12, 2024 

In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance our City on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.

Traffic Signal Shutdown at Main Street and Gillette

The traffic signal at the intersection of Main Street and Gillette will be turned off and/or placed in red flash mode Wednesday, June 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a development project. Every effort will be made to keep traffic flowing and minimize disruptions, but delays should be expected and motorists should consider using alternate routes.

Left Turn Lane Improvements

The City of Irvine is extending four left-turn lanes to increase capacity and minimize spillover into adjacent lanes. The work, weather-dependent, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is expected to be completed in summer 2024. The locations for work are:

• Northbound Jeffrey Road at Roosevelt

• Southbound Culver Drive at Barranca Parkway

• Eastbound Warner Avenue at Culver Drive

• Westbound Warner Avenue at Culver Drive

Every effort will be made to keep traffic flowing and minimize disruptions during the work, but delays should be expected and motorists should consider using alternate routes.

State Route 241 Overnight Closures

Southbound State Route 241 (SR-241) will be closed Wednesday, June 5 to Thursday, June 6, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. between SR-261 and SR-133.

Detour Information: 

• To southbound SR-241: Take southbound SR-261; exit at Portola Parkway; turn left and continue to SR-241.
• To southbound SR-133: Take southbound SR-261; exit at Irvine Boulevard; turn left and continue to SR-133.

Please follow all posted signs and traffic instructions for the safety of crews and travelers. 

261 Toll Road Overnight Closures

The northbound 261 Toll Road connector to southbound 241 Toll Road will be fully closed through Thursday, June 6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. 

• Detour Information: Exit on Irvine Boulevard and turn right; continue straight on Irvine Boulevard to reach the 133 Toll Road; turn right to take the on-ramp to
  northbound 133 Toll Road; slight right to take the 133 Toll Road connector to southbound 241 Toll Road.
