Traffic Signal Shutdown at Alton Parkway and Toledo

As part of the ongoing traffic signal permit project, work will be performed on the traffic signal at the intersection of Alton Parkway and Toledo Wednesday, April 17. The traffic signal is scheduled to be turned off and/or placed in red flash mode between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Every effort will be made to keep traffic flowing and minimize disruptions but delays should be expected and motorists should consider using alternate routes.


SR-261 Lane and Ramp Closures

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled lane closures and on-and off-ramp closures of State Route 261 (SR-261) in Irvine daily, concluding Saturday, April 20.

Barring any emergencies (which may include weather), the following locations will be closed to rehabilitate pavement and refresh traffic striping in the area.

Tuesday, April 16

  • Northbound SR-261 #1 (left) lane from Walnut Avenue to Portola Parkway from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Wednesday, April 17

  • Southbound SR-261 #1 (left) lane from Portola Parkway to Walnut Avenue from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Thursday, April 18

  • Northbound SR-261 #1 (left) lane from Walnut Avenue to Portola Parkway from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Friday, April 19

  • Southbound SR-261 #2 (right) lane from Portola Parkway to Walnut Avenue from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Southbound SR-261 off-ramp to Portola Parkway from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Southbound SR-261 on-ramp from Portola Parkway from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Saturday, April 20

  • Southbound SR-261 off-ramp to Irvine Boulevard from 2 to 7 a.m.
  • Southbound SR-261 on-ramp from Irvine Boulevard from 2 to 7 a.m.

Please adhere to all posted signs and traffic instructions for the safety of Caltrans crews and travelers. The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.


Red Hill Avenue Pavement Maintenance

The Street Maintenance Division will be performing pavement maintenance operations on Red Hill Avenue from MacArthur Boulevard to Main Street, northbound and southbound. Work will take place on the following dates and times:

  • Wednesday, April 17, through Friday, April 19, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
    • 2.5” Asphalt grind and overlay.
  • Sunday, April 21, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
    • Superior Pavement Markings - street striping and pavement legend painting.
  • Wednesday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
    • Traffic loops re-installed.
Redhill Avenue Work

Weekend Slurry Seal Schedule

As part of this year’s Annual Street Rehabilitation and Slurry Seal project, the City of Irvine will apply Slurry Seal Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic will be affected at the locations below; please use alternate routes both dates.

  • Alton Parkway – Paseo Westpark to Jeffrey Road.
  • Harvard Avenue – Coronado to Michelson Drive.
