Meet the Architects behind the Great Park Framework Development
Imagine nature being at your front door. That’s the vision landscape design firm SWA wants to bring to life at the Great Park.
SWA is a global firm dedicated to creating sustainable, public landscapes that connect and ground communities. Envisioned as a tranquil retreat from the hum of urban life in Irvine, SWA will develop a botanical garden, Veterans Memorial Park and Gardens, forest reserve, landscape wildlife corridor, riparian arroyos, California native tree palette, and eco-conscious designed spaces that celebrate the native landscape.
Their team will transform open space at the Great Park to bring the beauty of nature into the heart of the City. Learn more about SWA, the landscape architects designing the next phase of development at the Great Park. You can also meet SWA’s landscape architects at our Great Park Open House Tuesday, May 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hangar 244. Talk with them as well as other businesses and community partners who are working to create Your Reimagined Great Park. For details on the Open House, visit cityofirvine.org/greatparkframework.

Share your Thoughts on our Urban Forest
The City of Irvine is home to approximately 550,000 trees. Most of these are privately maintained, but about 68,000 trees are maintained by City staff and can be found at City facilities, parks, and open space areas. Together, private and City-maintained trees make up our urban forest.
To enhance and expand Irvine's tree canopy, we are developing a 30-year Urban Forest Master Plan, and we want you to help shape the plan. Take our brief survey and share your ideas and priorities with us.
