Road Construction & Improvement Projects April 4-11 

In addition to the projects listed below that may impact your commute, you can find information on work being done to enhance our City on the Capital Improvement Projects Map and the Road Construction Map.

SR-261 Ramp Closures

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled on- and off-ramp closures of State Route 261 (SR-261) from Wednesday, April 3 to Thursday, April 4. Pending any weather events, the following locations will be closed to refresh lane striping:

Wednesday, April 3

  • Southbound SR-261 on-ramp from Portola Parkway: 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Southbound SR-261 off-ramp to Portola Parkway: 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Southbound SR-261 on-ramp from Irvine Boulevard: 11 p.m. to midnight.
  • Southbound SR-261 off-ramp to Irvine Boulevard: 11 p.m. to midnight.

Thursday, April 4

  • Southbound SR-261 off-ramp to Walnut Avenue: midnight to 2 a.m.
  • Northbound SR-261 on-ramp from Walnut Avenue: 2 a.m. to 3 a.m.
  • Northbound SR-261 on-ramp from Irvine Boulevard: 3 a.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Northbound SR-261 off-ramp to Irvine Boulevard: 3 a.m. to 4 a.m.
  • Northbound SR-261 off-ramp to Portola Parkway: 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Southbound SR-261 on-ramp from Irvine Boulevard: 11 p.m. to midnight.
  • Southbound SR-261 off-ramp to Irvine Boulevard: 11 p.m. to midnight.

Please observe all posted signs and traffic instructions. The work schedule is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials, and/or construction-related issues.

Weekly Slurry Seal Schedule

As part of this year’s Annual Street Rehabilitation and Slurry Seal project, the City of Irvine will apply Slurry Seal Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic will be affected at the locations below; please use alternate routes both dates:

  • Culver Drive – Meadowood to Portola Parkway.
  • Culver Drive – Bryan Avenue to Meadowood.
  • Culver Drive – Irvine Center Drive to Walnut Avenue.
  • Irvine Center Drive – Harvard Avenue to Culver Drive.
  • Barranca Parkway – West Yale Loop and Harvard Avenue.
  • Alton Parkway – Culver Drive to Jeffrey Road.

Jamboree Pavement Rehabilitation

Phase two of the Jamboree Road Pavement Rehabilitation Project began Monday, April 1. This phase of the project is expected to be completed in summer (weather permitting) and includes:

  • Reopening the previously closed northbound Walnut off-ramp and southbound Walnut on-ramp along Jamboree Road.
  • Asphalt rehabilitation work along Jamboree Road from Michelle Drive to the railroad tracks (City limit) from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Work will be performed behind permanent K-rail closures.

There will be no full closures during this phase.
