Climate Action and Adaptation Plan Update

Since December 2022, staff has engaged Irvine's diverse set of stakeholders on potential CAAP measures through two public workshops, 15 virtual and in-person community presentations, various targeted stakeholder meetings, community events, and an interactive online survey. Collectively, staff has engaged with over 900 residents and stakeholders through these outreach efforts.

The goal of this outreach has been to raise awareness of Irvine’s climate planning efforts and provide community members with meaningful opportunities to provide input and imagine a climate-smart future. Feedback from these efforts included a desire for improved public and active transportation networks, increased electric vehicle charging infrastructure, more renewable energy, and building electrification.

Take Part in No Straw November

No Straw November

Plastic straws are one of the leading plastic polluters of the ocean — help change that! No Straw November was created to bring awareness to the many plastic straws being used once and then thrown away in a single month.

Jr Ocean Guardians challenges you to refuse plastic straws throughout November and to keep a tally of how many straws you eliminated from potentially ending up in the ocean. The ultimate goal of No Straw November is to use the single-use plastic straw ban as a wake-up call to all the other plastic you unknowingly use in your life.

Please share this challenge with others and use the hashtag #NoStrawNovember on social media to spread the word.
