Draw a District Map to Help Shape the Future of Irvine

Currently, registered Irvine voters vote for the Mayor and all four City Councilmembers. At a special election in March 2024, Irvine residents will have the opportunity to decide whether to expand the City Council to six Councilmembers and shift to district elections, with the Mayor elected at large.

In the meantime, we need your help to decide where to draw the district lines. Draw and submit a district map for consideration. The deadline to submit a map for consideration at the third public hearing is Thursday, June 29.

For instructions on how to draw and submit your own map, visit DrawIrvine.org/Draw-A-Map.

Be sure to mark your calendar with upcoming community forum and public hearing dates.

Mosquito

Mosquito Awareness Week

This week is National Mosquito Control Awareness Week. Follow these few steps from the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District to prevent mosquitoes this season:

  • TIP out standing water.

  • TOSS any unneeded containers.

  • TAKE ACTION by wearing repellent.

Invasive Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs in water sources as small as a bottle cap. Additionally, Aedes’ eggs can survive for years even if they dry up and will hatch when they come in contact with water again, so it is important to dump and drain all standing water.

By acting now, you can help prevent mosquito breeding, take charge of your yards, and protect our community. Learn more at ocvector.org.

This Week in DE&I

There are many cultural and religious holidays celebrated and recognized throughout our community this month. Learn about some of the significant dates being observed in Irvine below and on our DE&I calendar.

DE&I

World Refugee Day

World Refugee Day is an international day organized every year on June 20 by the United Nations. It is designed to celebrate and honor refugees from around the world. The day was first established in June 2001, in recognition of the 50th anniversary of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees.

World Refugee Day shines a light on the rights, needs, and dreams of refugees, helping to mobilize political will and resources so refugees not only survive, but also thrive.
