School Safety Town Hall

School Safety Town Hall

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will host a school safety town hall presentation Thursday, June 9, at 6 p.m., at the City of Irvine Council Chamber.

In light of recent horrific events involving gun violence in our region and across our Nation, IPD will share with our community the steps we have taken to prevent and respond to threats to our schools.

During the presentation, details about the following topics will be shared:

  • Overview of the IPD Youth Services Unit.

  • IPD training and equipment supporting immediate active shooter response.

  • Overview of the IPD Threat Management Unit.

  • Early identification and prevention of threats to our schools.

  • Long-standing collaborative efforts between IPD and our education partners regarding school safety.

If you are unable to attend in person, you can view the Town Hall live via youtube.com/ictv30ICTV live-stream, Cox Communications Channel 30, or AT&T U-verse Channel 99. A recording will also be posted to our website for viewing on-demand.

Transit Vision Study

Provide Feedback on Irvine's Transit Vision

The City of Irvine's transit vision seeks to define community transportation needs beyond existing iShuttle and bus routes located within the City.

A virtual community meeting will be held Monday, June 13, at 6 p.m., to discuss transportation options and present the findings from initial concept studies that sought to improve parking conditions and transit services, relieve parking and traffic congestion, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Join the meeting via Zoom and provide your input. Learn more about the study and take the survey at cityofirvine.org/transitvision

Pride Month

Pride Month is Here!

June is Pride Month — a time when the LGBTQIA+ community comes together to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBTQIA+ people have had in the world.

The City of Irvine recently celebrated the beginning of Pride Month and Harvey Milk Day by hosting an inaugural Pride in Irvine event at City Hall.

The gathering featured the raising of the Progress Flag and provided an opportunity for residents to connect with local organizations representing the LGBTQIA+ community.

Watch a recap of the event and view pictures of the celebration. Visit the City's website to learn more about Irvine's LGBTQIA+ services and resources.
