Wyland Water Challenge

Join us in the Wyland Water Challenge

As California enters the third year of drought, it is more important than ever that we conserve water.

We hope you will join us in making a commitment to reducing water consumption and energy use. We have joined the National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation sponsored by the Wyland Foundation, and we invite you to pledge to reduce water and energy use by visiting mywaterpledge.com.

The city with the most pledges in its population category will be named the most water wise.

Jammin' in the Palm Court

Jammin' in the Palm Court

See the final live jazz performance from Jammin’ in the Palm Court this Sunday, April 10, from 1 to 3 p.m.! Bring folding chairs and blankets to the Palm Court Arts Complex and celebrate the work of jazz legacies.

In support of the art exhibition 52nd Street: Jazz and the Photography of William Gottlieb and inspired by the 1944 jazz film “Jammin’ the Blues,” Jammin’ in the Palm Court highlights the legacies and influences of musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Ella Fitzgerald, and other jazz geniuses of the era. The performances and parking are free and do not require pre-registration.

Coyote

Coyote Activity in Irvine

From now through the end of summer, you may see more coyotes during the daylight hours as coyote babies begin to make their introduction into the world. While activity tends to take place around dusk and dawn, you could see them out during the day as well.

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) Animal Services team tracks coyote sightings to help understand their patterns and responds as necessary.

If you want to report a coyote sighting or coyote activity, you can do so by calling IPD at 949-724-7092, or emailing coyotesighting@cityofirvine.org. You can also use the Access Irvine app to report a sighting by clicking "How can We Help."

Earth Day

Celebrate Earth Day in Irvine

Irvine, are you ready to do your part to act boldly and innovate broadly on behalf of our planet? This year marks the 52nd anniversary of Earth Day, and we are celebrating all April long. Now is the time to preserve and protect our health, our families, and our livelihoods — and together, embody this year’s Earth Day theme: Invest in Our Planet.

The City of Irvine is committed to environmental stewardship and is celebrating Earth Day this year with various activities, calls-to-action, and events.

  • Support Irvine’s mission to become carbon-neutral by 2030 and volunteer for the Cool City Challenge.

  • Join us at Quail Hill for a guided hike and compost demo to appreciate our beautiful open space while learning how to protect it for years to come.

  • Find fun family-friendly crafts and activities to make a difference right at home.

  • Donate to our Utensils & Condiments Drive through April 30 to turn wasteful items into purposeful donations.

Our thanks go out to everyone who attended Spring Around the World at Great Park this past Saturday!  We are so glad we could come together to celebrate our wonderfully diverse community, and all that springtime brings!

During the springtime months, many religious and cultural days are recognized and celebrated that are significant to our community. Just this past weekend, we celebrated Purim, Holi, Ramadan, Pi Mai, Easter, Nowruz, Cinco De Mayo, and many more.

Please visit our DEI Spotlight website to learn more about our cultural community and how the City of Irvine is committed to ensuring that every person living and working in our community is treated with fairness, and has access to equitable services and opportunities.
