COVID-19 Mask Guidance & Yellow Tier Movement

Covid

California to Keep Existing Mask Guidance in Place Until June 15
The California Department of Public Health announced recently that it will wait until June 15 to implement the CDC's new mask guidelines, which allow people who are fully vaccinated to go without a mask in most indoor settings. Until that time, California will keep the existing guidance around masks in place.

The City of Irvine’s Executive Order, updated May 5, remains in place and falls in line with the current guidelines issued by the California Department of Public Health and implemented in Orange County. These guidelines are to be followed by all residents and businesses in Irvine until June 15.

Orange County to Move to Yellow Tier in Blueprint for a Safer Economy

Effective May 19, Irvine and Orange County moved into the Yellow Tier in the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy. The transition to the Yellow Tier is a result of tracked case rate data falling below the two cases per 100,000 residents' threshold.

You can view a complete list of sector operations allowed in each tier from the California Department of Public Health. Visit our COVID-19 resource page for City facility updates, and other City-related information.

Citywide Vaccine Clinics

Vaccine

Have you gotten your COVID-19 vaccination yet? In addition to the vaccine clinic at the Orange County Great Park, the City is now offering COVID-19 vaccinations at convenient neighborhood locations on weekends and evenings to provide more opportunities for the public to get vaccinated.

Appointments are available beginning May 22 for the Moderna and Pfizer (for those ages 12 and older) vaccines; available vaccines vary by site. Appointments are required for the neighborhood vaccination clinics. Appointments are recommended, but not required at the Orange County Great Park drive-thru site. For a complete list of locations, dates, and times, and to book your appointment, visit cityofirvine.org/vaccine

Diapers

Help Collect 1 Million Diapers

If the last year has proven one thing, it's that Irvine cares about its community! The City of Irvine is proud to support HomeAid Orange County in their goal of supporting families with young children experiencing homelessness by donating to the Essentials Diaper Drive. Help HomeAid reach its goal of 1 million diapers by dropping off unopened, new diapers and wipes to the Irvine Civic Center or Orange County Great Park Visitors Center. Donations will be collected through June 11. Learn more at cityofirvine.org.
