Paying it Forward

This week City of Irvine staff and those providing services at our COVID-19 testing site at the Orange County Great Park were rewarded with a breakfast from McDonald's as part of their #ThankYouThursday program.

Since the testing program began in July 2020, staff have been providing tests in the summer heat and during winter rains and windy conditions to help keep our community safe. We are grateful for their efforts and we are deeply appreciative of McDonald's support and kindness.

If you are a hospital or health care worker, police officer, or firefighter, you can get a free small coffee and Egg McMuffin at any participating McDonald's restaurant on Thursdays in February during breakfast hours. Be sure to bring your badge or ID to take advantage of their program.

Fun Facts for 50 Years of Incorporation!

While the City is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Orange County Public Library is celebrating 100 years of service! Irvine is home to three County libraries, Heritage Park Library, University Park Library, and Katie Wheeler Library on Old Myford Road located on the site where ranch founder James Irvine built his family home in 1876. The library is a replica of the original home, which was damaged in a fire in 1965 and torn down years later. The Katie Wheeler Library was designed by architects who studied the original home's blueprints. It opened in 2008 and was named after Wheeler, a philanthropist and James H. Irvine's  granddaughter, who was born and raised in the home.
