Composting 101 Webinar

Join Irvine Ranch Water District for a webinar presentation with UCCE OC Master Gardener Greg Stevenson, a compost expert. He will cover the basics of traditional composting and vermicomposting (using earthworms).
July 15, noon-1 p.m.

Irvine Summer Drive In Series

Enjoy movies and concerts in the park – with a twist – during the Irvine Summer Drive-In Series. This series of modified events brings the community together while safely following social distance guidelines. The Summer Drive-In Series features movies on the big screen and live concerts to the Orange County Great Park in drive-in format every Saturday this August. Park your cars, bring a picnic basket, or plan to purchase treats from gourmet food trucks. Space for this special event is limited to Irvine residents, and guests must register in advance.

The drive-in will be set up in parking lot 2 at the Great Park: Concert gates open at 4:30 p.m. and start at 5:30 p.m.; movie gates open at 6:45 p.m. and movies begin after sunset, approximately 8:15 p.m. Admission is free and advanced registration is required. Tickets will be available at yourirvine.org beginning July 1.

Wyland National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation

In light of our cities’ needs to respond and plan around COVID-19, the Wyland Foundation National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation campaign will take place beginning August 1, as part of National Water Quality Month. Click here for updates as new information becomes available. My Water Pledge is a friendly competition between cities across the US to see who can be the most “water-wise.” Mayors nationwide will challenge their residents to conserve water, energy and other natural resources on behalf of their city through a series of informative, easy-to-use pledges online.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Centers Are Open

County landfills and Household Hazardous Waste Collection Centers are open. These are essential public services and remain committed to serving the  need of residents.

9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays

Waste Management Bottle and Can Recycling Center In Irvine

Closed until at least July 1 due to COVID-19.
Please check back for updates.

In partnership with Waste Management, Orange County Conservation Core operates a “buy-back” Recycling Center in Irvine where the general public can redeem their bottles and cans for cash. As a nonprofit organization, the Recycling Center’s proceeds enhance and support their programs.

Support Irvine Green Business Program

The City of Irvine is now offering a FREE Green Business Assistance Program, designed to help businesses operate sustainably and receive public recognition for their efforts. Becoming a Certified Green Business means implementing practices that reduce energy and water consumption, prevent pollution, diverts waste from landfills and assist staff in creating a cleaner healthier environment for their employees.
