Holiday Tree

TREE RECYCLING
Waste Management will collect and recycle Christmas trees on your regular collection day between December 26 and January 17. Trees taller than 6 feet must be cut in half and all decorations (tinsel, lights, ornaments, and tree stands) must be removed. Place the tree curbside. Flocked trees will be collected, but cannot be recycled. Irvine residents without curbside trash service can take their trees to Sunset Environmental to dispose of at no charge. Bring proof of Irvine residency.

Creative Ways to Cut Your Holiday Waste

Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, American household waste increases by more than 25 percent. Trash cans full of holiday food waste, shopping bags, bows and ribbons, packaging, and wrapping paper contribute an additional 1 million tons a week to our landfills.

As we celebrate the holidays, it pays to be mindful of sustainable consumption and materials management practices. Here are some ways to have an eco-friendly holiday season.
