Fall Shred Event
In
partnership with Waste Management, the City is hosting a free paper shredding
event on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Lakeview Senior Center. Irvine residents can safely and securely dispose of
up to five banker-size file boxes (dimensions 24 inches x 12 inches) at a
mobile shredding unit on-site. A donation bin for gently used clothing will
also be available.

Keep Needles Out of the Trash
Needles, lancets and
other "sharps" are safety hazards and cannot be disposed of in the
trash or recycling containers under California law. Help protect your family,
neighbors and others by using the free Sharps Return Program. A
new direct-delivery program provided by Waste Management delivers one Sharps
container per year per household at no charge to residents who need and request
them. Residents can request a container for sharps by calling Waste Management
directly at 949-642-1191, or by visiting one of three participating
pharmacies. Visit cityofirvine.org/ep to get additional information.
National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
On Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., turn in your unused or expired medication at National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Sharps are not accepted at this event but can be taken to the County's
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center at 6411 Oak Canyon, Irvine
or residents can make use of the City's free Sharps Return Program.

Clean Fuel Rewards Program
If you drive a new or used Electric Vehicle (EV), you may be eligible
to receive a $450 Clean Fuel Rebate. By driving an EV, you’re
contributing to a cleaner energy future. The Clean Fuel Rebate is funded by the State of California’s Low
Carbon Fuel Standard Program, encouraging the use of clean fuels. Clean Fuel Rebate Eligibility Requirements
Clean Fleet
The City of
Irvine, with financial support from the Mobile Source Air Pollution
Review Committee, recently purchased a water truck and asphalt patch truck
powered by compressed natural gas, demonstrating the City's continued
commitment to clean transportation. These are one of many alternative fuel vehicles in the
City’s fleet. The City is committed to clean transportation and appreciates the
support from the Mobile Source Air Pollution Review Committee.
America Recycles Day November 15
America Recycles Day, a Keep America Beautiful national initiative, is
the only nationally-recognized day dedicated to promoting and
celebrating recycling in the United States. This fall, take the
#BeRecycled pledge and join the tens of thousands who have committed to reduce,
reuse and recycle, and also buy recycled items. Actions pledged to include
recycling plastic bottles and unwanted mail. What action will you take?
