Free Paper Shredding Event
The City in partnership with Waste Management is hosting a free paper shredding event on Saturday, Jan. 28. Disposal
of up to five banker-size file boxes (dimensions 24 inches x 12 inches)
will be available to Irvine residents with mobile shredding unit
on-site. A donation receptacle will be on-site from a charitable
organization to drop-off gently used clothing.

California voters approved Proposition 67, the statewide Single-Use Carryout Bag Ban
This new State law
is in effect and most grocery stores, retail stores with a pharmacy,
convenience stores, food marts and liquor stores no longer provide single-use plastic carry-out bags to their customers.
Instead, reusable grocery bags or recycled paper bags
are available for customers to purchase for a fee of at least 10 cents. More
information regarding Proposition 67 can be found at calrecycle.ca.gov
Christmas Tree Recycling
Waste Management
will collect and recycle Christmas trees for three weeks after
Christmas on your regular collection day. Trees taller than 4 feet
must be cut in half and all decorations (tinsel, lights, ornaments and
tree stands) must be removed. Place the tree curbside. Flocked trees will be collected, but cannot be recycled. Trees can also be recycled at:

California Friendly Landscape Training Class
Irvine Ranch Water District wants you to become a Waterwise Gardener. Learn ways to make your garden California Friendly. Classes are free but registration is required.
