Welcome to the Library Reading Corner for June 2025
A Note from City Librarian Elizabeth Saucedo:
Greetings, library patrons! Welcome to our June newsletter. There are many exciting happenings in the mix this month at all our libraries, as our Summer Reading Program kicks off on June 14th! This year’s program will include some fantastic features, such as usage of the user-friendly app Beanstack, special performers at the recently opened Buellton Library, the return of many local favorites at Solvang Library, and a kick-off party at Stow House in Goleta. Get all the details by viewing our recent press release and start planning your book-filled summer months with us!
The process of transitioning to GVL Express – our temporary home during construction located at 6500 Hollister Avenue, Suite 105 – is continuing very smoothly. Stay tuned for an official opening date in the near future. Our team has been hard at work behind the scenes to create a special space for our patrons, and we are eager to share it with you. As we prepare for opening, you may notice some small changes to your account as we space out due dates to create a smooth return process for materials currently checked out.
Please continue to visit us at programs and the Bookvan routes – you can find all the great details at goletavalleylibrary.org.
Happy June, patrons. We look forward to seeing you at the library this summer!

Goleta Valley Library has temporarily closed its location at 500 N. Fairview Avenue and the entire Library staff is hard at work with the move to its new home during construction. The relocation is scheduled to occur now through June, and when it is complete patrons will be able to visit the “GVL Express” located just three miles away at 6500 Hollister Avenue!
Click here to learn the many ways you can continue to receive service and attend programs while the library is closed for the move.
New Book Drop Locations in Goleta
The Goleta Valley Library book drops have recently been moved to the Goleta Community Center (5679 Hollister Avenue) and City Hall (130 Cremona Drive) and are open to accept returns. Materials returned in the book drops are collected and checked in Monday-Friday. We ask that you please do not deposit donations in the book drops as we are not equipped to accept them at this time.
