Join Us for the March 18th Goleta City Council Meeting
Topics Include: Update on Old Town Interim Striping Project, City Tile Recognition, MTD Presentation, and Annual Work Plans for Finance and General Government
We hope you will join us for the Goleta City Council meeting this Tuesday, March 18th, at 5:30 p.m. (closed session begins at 4:30 p.m.) We encourage you to come in-person to Council Chambers, watch live, or participate via Zoom. Directions for how to do so can be found below. Most importantly, we hope you will make your voice heard on the items before Council. Your feedback is an important part of the Council’s decision-making process.
Items on the agenda include:
- The City Council will receive an update on the performance of the Hollister Avenue Old Town Interim Striping Project. The project, which was completed in October 2024, has been in place for approximately six months. Its goals include increasing parking capacity and availability, reducing traffic speeds and collisions, enhancing conditions for cyclists and pedestrians, and maintaining traffic flow. Given the short duration the striping improvements have been in place, and the ongoing Project Connect construction in the area, it is difficult to draw definitive conclusions regarding the impact of the project—particularly in terms of traffic safety. However, preliminary data shows positive trends, suggesting the project is on track to meet its goals. The staff report and presentation are available here: https://tinyurl.com/yc794bb7.
- Kathy Allen, Supervising Senior Planner, will receive a City Tile recognizing her 11 years of service as she prepares to retire at the end of March.
- The City Council will receive a presentation from the Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD). MTD will provide an update on its transit services in Goleta. View the staff report and presentation here: https://tinyurl.com/2p4pp9xy.
Department Directors from Finance and General Government will present their Annual Work Programs to the City Council. An Annual Work Program provides a regular, structured mechanism to allow the Council to review and discuss the Department’s work commitments and staffing resources, consider individual Council member’s project ideas and provide direction on Department work priorities for the next fiscal year. The draft FY 2025-26 Annual Work Program also summarizes work progress and accomplishments for the past fiscal year (FY 2024-25) and lays the groundwork for the Department budget.
