Welcome to the Library Reading Corner for March 2025
A Note from City Librarian Elizabeth Saucedo:
Hello, library patrons! We hope that the first few months of the new year have been treating you well and that you are finding ways to fit library joy into your routines. Libby’s bestselling audiobook titles can enliven your daily commute, our free Santa Barbara Botanic Garden Family Passes create fun outdoor weekend plans, and the cheer from attending a library program like Senior Happy Hour is near-impossible to resist. We love hearing all the ways that our patrons use their local library and we’re grateful for the opportunity to serve a community that values our offerings. For this reason, we understand that our recent announcement of Goleta Valley Library’s closure at the end of the month for temporary relocation during construction may be on your mind. While the library is closed from April to June, please rest assured we will be providing a variety of programming and outreach as we relocate to our temporary home. The final schedule will be shared later this month, and a full summer programming calendar will be coming in late spring before we reopen at our temporary site in early June. We care about keeping our patrons informed, and encourage you to check our website often and visit the project page for updates.
In the weeks ahead, there continues to be many opportunities for all ages to engage and gather at all our sites. Attend a Craftapalooza and Big Book Sale at Goleta Valley Library, look for Bigfoot at Buellton Library, and boost your little ones’ early literacy skills at two weekly storytimes at Solvang Library. Plus, our Bookvan can be found across Isla Vista five days a week for library card registrations, checkouts, and more.
As always, we thank you for your patronage and understanding during the transitions ahead. We look forward to continuing to bring you high-quality, innovative service to help you connect, learn, and thrive.
-Elizabeth Saucedo, City Librarian
