Welcome to the Library Reading Corner for February 2025
A Note from City Librarian Elizabeth Saucedo:
Libraries observe many occasions, themes, and events throughout the year, but February is particularly special because it is Library Lovers’ Month! Our communities mean the world to us, and the opportunity to celebrate your patronage all month long seems only fitting for the many visitors who enable us to bring our service mission to life. Next time you’re out enjoying this beautiful area, visit the ever-thriving Goleta Valley Library, pick up materials from our dedicated Bookvan team in the Isla Vista community, meet our stellar new branch manager at Solvang Library, and explore the enriching offerings at the Los Olivos and Santa Ynez libraries. Soon, our Buellton Library will open its doors to patrons from its stunning new location at 202 Dairyland Road, where you will find endless things to love at this vibrant new neighborhood library.
We’d be remiss not to spotlight some of the top Library Lovers in our community this month, the Friends of the Library. Our libraries are incredibly fortunate to receive ongoing support from three active Friends groups: the Friends of the Goleta Valley Library, the Friends of the Library of the Santa Ynez Valley, and the Friends of the Buellton Library. From supporting all-ages library programming to sponsoring seasonal events to fundraising for specialty items, the Friends’ support makes an invaluable impact in extending the reach of library services into our communities.
Visit our website to learn more about the Friends and how you can get involved with these lively community groups today.
There is truly something for everyone at the library. We look forward to seeing you this month, library lovers!
-Elizabeth Saucedo, City Librarian
