NOVEMBER 2021 LIBRARY READING CORNER
A Note from Library Director Allison Gray:
Welcome to the November edition of the Library Reading Corner. There is a lot happening at the Goleta and Santa Ynez Valley Libraries this month. Read on for more information, including on our new Instagram Family Reading Photo Contest and great online programming.
I'm excited to share that in its first month of operation in Isla Vista, our new Goleta Valley Library Bookvan served a total of 682 people! We are so pleased that the Isla Vista population is taking advantage of this library on wheels. Since it is getting dark earlier in the day, we have had to slightly alter our site visit times. Please check the library calendar page for the new times. Paper copies will also be distributed at the sites within the next week or two. See you at the Bookvan!
I would also like to encourage patrons to take advantage of access to online databases and websites for free through www.GoletaValleyLibrary.org. I want to point out two new sites: LinkedIn Learning and GetSetUp. LinkedIn Learning features thousands of courses on a multitude of subjects focusing on business, technology, creativity, and more. Just log in with your library card number and password and a whole world of learning is available! GetSetUp has a catalog of more than 500 classes exclusively for older adults with live classes every day of the week. There is so much more great content on our website, check it out at www.GoletaValleyLibrary.org.
Stay Connected
Stay up-to-date on what’s happening at the Library by following us on our social media channels (below) and YouTube (Goleta and Santa Ynez Valley Libraries). We post regularly about programs, books, websites, and more. We would love for you to follow us on our social media platforms! Please also visit our website, www.GoletaValleyLibrary.org, for the latest information.

Our pumpkin weighed in at 24 lb 8 oz! The library received over 300 entries, with many coming within just a few ounces of the actual weight. Thanks to the generosity of Lane Farms and the Friends of the Goleta Valley Library, we were able to award goody bags of books and delicious seasonal treats to the top two guesses per age group.
