Alisal Fire Update - October 13, 2021

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is holding a press conference at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, October 13, at Earl Warren Showgrounds. The press conference will be broadcast live on KEYT Channel 3 and livestreamed on KEYT.com.

  • As of 7:00 a.m. this morning the Alisal Fire is approximately 14,500 acres at 5% containment.
  • While the fire is not currently posing a threat to the City of Goleta, conditions can quickly change. It's important to stay informed and prepared.
  • 1200 firefighters are on scene along with five Tankers and six Helicopters.
  • Priorities remain structure defense, perimeter control, and the reopening of Hwy 101 and the railroad. Caltrans crews are working hard to repair damaged guardrails and to get Hwy 101 ready to be reopened when it is safe to do so. Firefighters are still working along the corridor on hot spots.

  • An Air Quality Watch is still in effect for Santa Barbara County, check conditions at www.ourair.org/todays-air-quality or fire.airnow.gov.
  • The American Red Cross is supporting evacuees with sheltering needs. The Evacuation Center at Dos Pueblos High School upper parking lot at 7266 Alameda Ave, Goleta, CA 93117  is on standby. Evacuees needing assistance can contact the American Red Cross at 833-583-3111.
  • Earl Warren Showgrounds has been established as an evacuation center for large animals. County Animal Services (5473 Overpass Road, Goleta) is accepting small animals. For animal evacuation assistance, call 805-681-4332.
