Old Town Goleta Update: Sidewalk Improvements Project and Goleta Water District Efforts

Public Works

Construction of the Old Town Sidewalk Improvements Project is underway. Construction began on Monday morning, March 2, 2020.  We appreciate in advance your patience as crews work over the next nine months to get the project done.   A Goleta Old Town Sidewalk Improvements Project Schedule can be found here and below, and is also on our website at www.cityofgoleta.org. The schedule is an estimate and will be updated on the website regularly as construction proceeds.

The City of Goleta wants to inform residents that the Goleta Water District (GWD) is also replacing approximately 29 water valves in the Old Town area.   To accomplish this, GWD plans to turn off the water approximately three times over the course of their valve replacement project.  The first shutdown will occur this Thursday night March 5, 2020, from 8:00 p.m. untill 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning, March 6. GWD is working to get the project done prior to repaving work for the long-awaited Old Town Sidewalks Improvement Project. The City of Goleta appreciates the GWD’s efforts and collaboration with the City to make the repairs prior to repaving the streets for the OTSW project. This will mean less inconvenience to the residents and public in the future and ensure those streets last longer by not having to cut into new asphalt.

Again, we want to thank the community for their patience and cooperation as work is done to improve Old Town Goleta.
