Fire Update - 12/14/17, 12:00 p.m.

The Thomas Fire has burned 242,500 acres and is at 30% containment with 8,144 fire personnel working to put out the fire.

The air quality today in Goleta remains unhealthy. Air quality information and a smoke forecast can be found on APCD’s website here at www.ourair.org

Street sweeping has resumed in an effort to minimize the impact of ash produced by the Thomas Fire and prevent pollution and debris from flowing to the watersheds.

Marborg has resumed trash, recycling and green waste pick up tomorrow.

Free masks

Free masks will continue to be distributed today.  Goleta locations include the Goleta Valley Community Center, Goleta City Hall and Costco in Camino Real.  Click here for more information.

Temporary closures of Highway 154 are in effect to allow for the smooth mobilization of fire personnel and equipment.  A full closure of Highway 154 will occur between 5-9 a.m. each day until further notice. 

A community meeting will be held at 4 p.m. at San Marcos High School, 4750 Hollister Avenue.  Interpretation in Spanish and American Sign Language will be available.  The County of Santa Barbara will provide live streaming on their Facebook page here.
