Spring 2021
Golden Gate Transit (GGT) will make minor schedule changes, effective Sunday, March 14, 2021, as we continue to modify bus service during the COVID-19 pandemic. Schedule updates here...
Do you want to see Golden Gate Transit service updates on Nextdoor? Follow us here and give us a recommendation! Your service area will automatically be added to our most recent service announcements!
Was your bus full? Don't worry, there may be a bus on the way to pick up anyone left behind at the stop.
Due to social-distancing requirements, we are limiting the number of passengers per bus: 9 passengers on a 40-foot bus and 11 passengers on a 45-foot coach. When a bus reaches capacity, riders may have to wait for the next bus or find an alternative route. We have increased capacity on some trips with the addition of an extra trip that shadows crowded buses. Read more...
Join us in celebrating our hard-working transit workers! There are so many behind the scene transit workers who deserve recognition! In addition to our amazing transit operators, we also rely on our mechanics, servicers, dispatchers, supervisors, terminal agents, vessel masters, customer service representatives, and more!
Here are several ways to express your gratitude and support:
- Say "Good morning!" or "Good afternoon!" when getting on the bus or ferry, and a hearty "Thank you!" when getting off.
- Recognize a favorite transit worker by commending him/her using our Bus Comment or Ferry Comment form.
- Tweet a photo of yourself relaxing on the bus or ferry, using the #TWAD and #TDAD hashtags and tagging us at @GoldenGateBus and @GoldenGateFerry.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, our drivers are tested and go through daily screenings to protect the health of those around them. They wear masks to protect you—please do the same for them. Masks are required while boarding and riding board Golden Gate Transit buses. Thank you for your cooperation!

Progress on the rebuild of the M.S. Sonoma has continued apace through the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to social distancing orders, the contractor for the project, Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB), has reduced their crew sizes to help workers maintain proper distance while onboard the vessel. Still, they have made steady progress on rebuilding the M.S. Sonoma as the project enters its final phases.
In just the last few months, the contractor has made significant progress towards returning the M.S. Sonoma to service. Since the last update, driveline equipment and mechanical systems have been fully installed and interior outfitting is nearly complete. In November, the Sonoma was successfully launched into the water and the vessel completed a successful sea trial in early January. The District eagerly anticipates the M.S. Sonoma's return to Larkspur in the first quarter of 2021. Read more about our fleet here...

Construction of the Corte Madera Marsh restoration project was completed at the end of January and is now open to the public. The project restored four acres out of a 72-acre, Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District (District) owned parcel to tidal marsh, bolstering the habitat for endangered species and adding amenities along a reconfigured recreational path.
Recreational users now have access to a new berm around the restored tidal marsh that connects the remaining portions of the trail. The District has also installed new benches, trash cans, and native plants along the reconfigured recreational loop. Read more...
