We are thrilled to invite you to the Fremont Park Grand Re-Opening Ceremony, a cornerstone of our community. After almost two years of exciting renovations, we’re ready to celebrate the newly refreshed space and its expanded amenities. This is a day you won't want to miss!

Nature is Calling and the
Wander the Wilderness Bus
is Answering!

Enjoy Deukmejian Wilderness Park without worrying about how to get there. Wander the Wilderness Bus is a FREE shuttle operating every weekend, since Sunday, January 28, 2024, to help you and your family get to the park.

Spend the morning working next to the Los Angeles River on the City of Glendale's Riverwalk. We need volunteers to help us remove invasive plants from the landscaped areas along the L.A. River. Please wear sturdy shoes, protective clothing, and bring water. We'll provide the tools and gloves. Families, individuals, clubs, and students needing community service hours are welcome. In case of rain, this event will be cancelled.

Join us for a night hike on moderately steep trails, as we learn about how lunar cycles affect wildlife, insects, and even humans! Please wear sturdy shoes, bring water and a flashlight; we will provide the red light covers.

Nature Journaling is the sweet spot between art, science, observation, and curiosity! This new volunteer-led program for adults and 11-17 year olds with supervision is an introduction to the basics of nature journaling with monthly meet ups. All levels of nature journaling experience welcome! 

Glendale Outdoors! (GO!) Community Program

Spend some quality family time enjoying the great outdoors once a month! We invite the public to join us for an interpretive hike in Deukmejian Wilderness Park, a nature craft, nature themed games, and a tour of the Stone Barn Nature Center. We will provide water, snacks, and bus transportation from Pacific Community Center, leaving at 8:30 AM and returning at 12:30 PM  Funding for the bus is provided by Metro, a partner in our community.

*Program time begins at 9:00 AM at Deukmejian Wilderness Park. If you choose to meet at the park, please arrive by 8:45 AM. The program ends at 12:00 PM, and bus riders will return to Pacific Community Center by 12:30 PM.

Important information:

• A FREE bus leaves from Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Avenue, at 8:30 AM and returns at 12:30 PM.
• Everyone is encouraged to ride the bus! Please arrive by 8:00 AM to check-in with the staff if you are riding the bus with us.
• Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and a hat or cap.
• Adult supervision is required! One adult for every three children 17 and under is required.

Adventure Awaits with Agents of Discovery

Agents of Discovery is a FREE, educational, mobile game in which players of all ages can learn and test their knowledge of natural, cultural, and historic resources at parks around the world. Now you can explore City of Glendale parks in a whole new way! The Agents of Discovery app will take you on self-guided walks, with themed missions full of fun challenges and interactive, virtual activities along the way. Each Mission has a map of its location and a Field Agent to guide you. Visit GlendaleCA.gov/AgentsofDiscovery to learn how to play!

Volunteer Opportunities

ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR TRAIL SAFETY PATROL VOLUNTEERS!

As a Trail Safety Patrol (TSP) volunteer, you have a unique opportunity to assist the City of Glendale by providing public assistance and resource protection. Your influence on park visitors will enhance their experience and safety while in our parks. The TSP consists of two units: The Mountain Bike Unit and the Hike Unit.

TSP volunteers must be 18 years of age, undergo a background check and City-mandated trail safety training, attend a First Aid/CPR certification class, be in good health, and devote a minimum of two hours per month. If interested, please send an email to Trails@GlendaleCA.gov.
