Together, our power and water professionals embody GWP’s commitment to serving Glendale with dedication, reliability, and care. Follow us on social media as we celebrate Public Power Week and Water Professionals Appreciation week and highlight the dedicated individuals who power our community.
Glendale Water & Power (GWP) has officially launched its new myGWP customer portal, designed to provide customers with a faster, easier, and more secure way to manage their utility accounts.
With this upgrade, more than 50,000 GWP customers can now enjoy a more user-friendly experience, featuring simplified navigation and more modern interface. The refreshed design makes it easier for customers to view and pay bills, set up or manage Autopay, and receive clearer, more informative email updates. Customers can now view hourly usage details, providing better visibility into their billing and consumption patterns, helping them make more informed energy and water use decisions. A new SmartVX video has also been added to help guide customers through the portal’s features and ensure they get the most out of the new experience.
While many technical improvements were made behind the scenes to ensure a stable and reliable platform, the updates customers will notice are focused on improving convenience and accessibility. And GWP is not stopping there, additional customer-focused enhancements are on the way, including live chat support, a dedicated mobile app, multilingual options and single sign-on access to outage updates.
This launch represents a significant step forward in how GWP serves its customers. GWP remains committed to continuously enhancing the customer experience with tools that are intuitive, responsive, and built around customer needs.
On June 3, 2025, the Glendale City Council approved changes to the upcoming electric rate adjustment to help reduce the impact on customer bills.
What's Changing?
A previously approved 11.3% rate increase, scheduled to take effect on July 1, 2025, will now be deferred and spread out over three years, taking affect November 1st of 2025, 2026 and 2027. GWP staff will return to City Council at the end of September 2025 to determine the rate adjustments for each customer class and adopt an updated rate structure.
This change helps avoid a large rate increase during the summer, when energy use is typically highest. By deferring the adjustment to the fall and breaking it into smaller steps, customers will see a more gradual impact on their bills. The rate increases are part of a previously approved 5-year plan to support major investments in clean energy, infrastructure, and system reliability. The change does not affect the total planned revenue over time but smooths the increase to be more manageable for customers. See information below for the previous rate structure plan.
Glendale Water & Power is planning for the future to ensure our community continues to have safe, reliable, and sustainable water. This work will guide investments in replacing aging infrastructure, expanding recycled water use, and strengthening local water supplies — with community input helping to shape the path forward.
Join us at the Water Master Plan Community Open House to learn more about capital projects, rates, recycled water, water supply and more. Attendees will also be able to ask questions and share feedback. This event is open to all ages, and we encourage everyone to come be part of the conversation.

GWP is well on track to meet our clean energy goal! Under the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Power Source Disclosure Program, GWP is required to disclose to its retail consumers about the energy resources used to provide electricity service, as well as the greenhouse gas emissions intensity associated with its retail electricity portfolio through an annual Power Content Label.
For comparison, the label includes a summary of California’s overall power mix during the same period. The resources mix is shown as a percentage of actual Retail Sales.
