We’re thrilled to share that we are expanding our clean energy efforts by installing solar photovoltaic systems on city-owned properties. This move will help make renewable energy more affordable and accessible for everyone in our community.
Using city-owned assets for solar installations in Glendale will lower clean energy costs. Six projects are in progress, totaling 4.9 megawatts, including a rooftop installation on the GWP Perkins Building that will generate 184 kW. This array is expected to produce 300,000 kWh of clean energy annually, sufficient to power 41 homes.
These projects are a major step forward in our commitment to sustainability, and we’re excited to see the positive impact they will have on our community.

GWP is well on track to meet our clean energy goal! Under the California Energy Commission’s (CEC) Power Source Disclosure Program, GWP is required to disclose to its retail consumers about the energy resources used to provide electricity service, as well as the greenhouse gas emissions intensity associated with its retail electricity portfolio through an annual Power Content Label.
For comparison, the label includes a summary of California’s overall power mix during the same period. The resources mix is shown as a percentage of actual Retail Sales.
