Volunteer Opportunities
ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR TRAIL SAFETY PATROL VOLUNTEERS!
As a Trail Safety Patrol (TSP) volunteer, you have a unique opportunity to assist the City of Glendale by providing public assistance and resource protection. Your influence on park visitors will enhance their experience and safety while in our parks. The TSP consists of two units: The Mountain Bike Unit and the Hike Unit.
TSP volunteers must be 18 years of age, undergo a background check and City-mandated trail safety training, attend a First Aid/CPR certification class, be in good health, and devote a minimum of two hours per month. If interested, please send an email to Trails@GlendaleCA.gov.
Volunteer Workdays
Riverwalk Workday 300 Paula Avenue, Glendale, CA 91201 Saturday, September 14, 2024 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Spend the morning working next to the Los Angeles River on the City of Glendale's Riverwalk. We need volunteers to help us remove invasive plants from the landscaped areas along the L.A. River. Please wear sturdy shoes, protective clothing, and bring water. We'll provide the tools and gloves. Families, individuals, clubs and students needing community service hours are welcome. In case of rain, this event will be cancelled.
Wilderness Workday Deukmejian Wilderness Park 3429 Markridge Road, Glendale, CA 91214 Saturday, September 21, 2024 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Help us water our bigcone spruce and coast live oaks, assist with trail repairs, and remove invasive plants from the park. Please wear sturdy shoes, protective clothing, and bring water. Families, individuals, clubs and students needing community service hours are welcome. In case of rain, this event will be cancelled.

Interpretive Hike, "Creatures of The Night" Deukmejian Wilderness Park 3429 Markridge Road, Glendale, CA 91214 Saturday, October 5, 2024 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Come along as we trek through the park and explore the sounds of the night. What animals are out and about during these hours? What are they doing up so late? Who made that sound and what does it mean? We will hike on moderately difficult trails with stops along the way for discussion, stories, and activities. This program is recommended for ages 5 and older.
Glendale Outdoors! (GO!) Community Program Deukmejian Wilderness Park 3429 Markridge Road, Glendale, CA 91214 Saturday, September 14, 2024 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.*
Spend some quality family time enjoying the great outdoors once a month! We invite the public to join us for an interpretive hike in Deukmejian Wilderness Park, a nature craft, nature themed games, and a tour of the Stone Barn Nature Center. We will provide water, snacks, and bus transportation from Pacific Community Center, leaving at 8:30 a.m. and returning at 12:30 p.m. Funding for the bus is provided by Metro, a partner in our community.
*Program time begins at 9:00 a.m. at Deukmejian Wilderness Park. If you choose to meet at the park, please arrive by 8:45 a.m. The program ends at 12:00 p.m., and bus riders will return to Pacific Community Center by 12:30 p.m.
Important information:
- A FREE bus leaves from Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Avenue, at 8:30 a.m. and returns at 12:30 p.m.
- Everyone is encouraged to ride the bus! Please arrive by 8:00 a.m. to check-in with the staff if you are riding the bus with us.
- Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and a hat or cap.
- Adult supervision is required! One adult for every three children 17 and under is required.

Nature is Calling and the Wander the Wilderness Bus is Answering!
Enjoy Deukmejian Wilderness Park without worrying about how to get there. Wander the Wilderness Bus is a FREE shuttle operating every weekend, since Sunday, January 28, 2024, to help you and your family get to the park.

Nature center is available for rental with or without the displays in place.
Available for parties, events, and meetings.
Maximum capacity: 88 (banquet style).
Interpretive Nature Program available for birthday parties and events.
