Riverwalk Workday Glendale Narrows Riverwalk 300 Paula Avenue, Glendale, CA 91201 Saturday, September 10, 2022 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Join us down by the Los Angeles River on the City of Glendale's Riverwalk, as we work to remove invasive plants from the landscaped areas. Please wear sturdy shoes, protective clothing, and bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. We'll provide the tools and gloves. Families, individuals, clubs, and students needing community service hours are welcome. In case of rain, this event will be cancellled.

Help us water our bigcone spruce and coast live oaks, assist with trail repairs, and remove invasive plants from the park. Please wear sturdy shoes and bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Friday Night Lecture, “Wildlife Photography" Deukmejian Wilderness Park Stone Barn Nature Center 3429 Markridge Road, Glendale, CA 91214 Friday, September 9, 2022 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Join veteran photographer, Moses Sparks, as he shares his photos and adventures capturing wildlife around the world. He will also discuss equipment and methods for photographing wildlife. Seating is limited. Please RSVP.
This event is recommended for ages 14 and older.

Are you interested in becoming a Trail Safety Patrol Volunteer for the City of Glendale?
As a Trail Safety Patrol (TSP) volunteer, you have a unique opportunity to assist the City of Glendale by providing public assistance and resource protection. Your influence on park visitors will enhance their experience and safety while in our parks. The TSP consists of three units: The Mountain Bike Unit, Hike Unit and the Walk Unit.
TSP volunteers must be 18 years of age, undergo a background check and City-mandated trail safety training, be in good health, and devote a minimum of four hours per month. If interested, please send an email to trails@glendaleca.gov.

Support Glendale Parks by Attending "Stars in the Park"
Deukmejian Wilderness Park 3429 Markridge Road, Glendale, CA 91214 Saturday, September 17, 2022 5:00 p.m.
Join the Glendale Parks & Open Space Foundation for the "Stars in the Park" garden party, sponsored by Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center, celebrating the inspiring work of park heroes who have helped to protect and share our areas of natural wonder. Enjoy a tour of the Stone Barn Nature Center beginning at 5:00 p.m., dinner at 6:00 p.m., followed by the first annual Park Heroes recognition ceremony. Funds from this event will be used to help fund equitable access to programs and activities at city parks for all Glendale youth.

Nature center is available for rental with or without the displays in place.
Available for parties, events, and meetings.
Maximum capacity: 88 (banquet style).
Interpretive Nature Program available for birthday parties and events.

Glendale Outdoors! (GO!) Community Program
Deukmejian Wilderness Park 3429 Markridge Road, Glendale, CA 91214 Saturday, September 10, 2022 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Spend some quality family time enjoying the great outdoors once a month! We invite the public to join us for an interpretive hike in Deukmejian Wilderness Park, a nature craft, nature themed games, and a tour of the Stone Barn Nature Center. We will provide water, snacks and bus transportation from Pacific Park Community Center, leaving at 8:30 am and returning at 12:30 pm.
Important information:
- Please arrive by 8:00 AM to check in with the staff.
- Free bus leaves from Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Ave., at 8:30 AM and returns at 12:30 PM
- Please wear sturdy shoes, long pants, and a hat or cap.
- Adult supervision is required! One adult for every three children 17 and under is required.
- All participants MUST ride the bus to this program, and cannot drive separately.

Wildlife Encounters
Rattlesnakes are active in warm weather.
- Always stay on designated trails.
- Always look before reaching around a bush.
- Keep your dog on a leash at all times.
- Avoid tall grasses, and climbing over rocks and wood piles without first looking to see if a snake is there.
- Never try to pick up or handle a snake.
- Wear boots and long pants when hiking or working outdoors.
- Your best line of defense is to leave the snake alone and alert others in the area to the presence of the snake.
