GWP has partnered with Sagewell, Inc. and has launched the Off-Peak Electric Vehicle Charging Rebate Program! This program is designed to incentivize EV owners to charge their vehicles overnight on weekdays between 9:00PM and 12:00PM the next day, and anytime on the weekend in exchange for a credit of $8/month paid annually. This incentive is estimated to offer 1,300 miles of free driving per year!
Off-peak EV charging helps relieve energy demand and utilizes available overnight capacity within GWP’s electric system. This then helps with reliability and benefits all GWP customers. With this program, other communities have seen participants charge off-peak at least 90% of the time, efficiently integrating EV load with the distribution system. EV customers can also inquire about GWP’s Time-of-Use rates to also maximize the benefits of charging at off-peak hours.

Urgent Request: Please do not water outdoors between September 6th and September 20th due to a major shutdown from Glendale’s main water supplier.
The City receives about 60% of its water from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD). MWD is currently supplying Glendale with water from the Colorado River because of a severe shortage on the State Water Project system. MWD is preparing for a 15-day emergency shutdown in order to complete an urgent repair to one of its major pipelines that delivers water from the Colorado River to the treatment plant that supplies Glendale. This pipeline will be out of service for approximately two weeks starting on September 6, 2022 to allow for repairs at a critical point in the pipeline, and the treatment plant will need to switch to the limited State Water Projects supplies.
This shutdown will affect all agencies receiving water that goes through this pipeline. Therefore, all the affected water agencies will be asking their residents and businesses to not water landscapes for these fifteen days and significantly reduce their water usage, in order to conserve limited State Water Project supplies.
How does this affect you?
This advanced notice is to inform Glendale water users to stop outdoor watering from Sept. 6 – Sept 20, 2022. The City is currently at two days a week watering in Phase III of Mandatory Conservation, and during this urgent MWD shutdown it is important to defer outdoor watering entirely. All residents and businesses in surrounding cities will be asked to stop outdoor watering and conserve more during these fifteen days as well. More information on MWD’s water supply issues during this time will be uploaded to our website when it becomes available.
No Watering of Non-functional Turf in Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional Sectors
On May 24, 2022 the State Water Resources Control Board (“SWRCB”) adopted an emergency regulation, in compliance with the Governor’s emergency order, that will be in effect at least until June of 2023. The emergency regulation relates to water conservation and included in its provisions is a prohibition on irrigation of "non-functional turf" in commercial, industrial and institutional sectors.
“Non-functional” Turf as defined by the State Water Resources Control Board, Emergency Regulation, Title 23, Division 3, Chapter 3.5, Article 2, Section 996 (a) (5) of the Water Code is, “Non-functional turf” means turf that is solely ornamental and not regularly used for human recreational purposes or for civic or community events. Nonfunctional turf does not include sports fields and turf that is regularly used for human recreational purposes or for civic or community events.”
This prohibition does not apply to areas irrigated with recycled water and it does not apply to residential properties. The SWRCB’s website includes more details about the prohibition as well as downloadable Frequently Asked Questions.
We all need to work together to help California’s water shortage. Conservation is not only a way of life, it’s a vital water supply source. Every drop counts!

It's a simple way to lower your energy use and utility costs, while benefiting your community. Through the Peak Saving Program, GWP will adjust the temperature of your smart thermostat on very hot (peak) days to help reduce electrical demand. Participation perks include a $50 annual incentive, $50 sign up bonus, discounts on energy-saving products in the online marketplace, and more!
HERE’S HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
- Purchase and install a qualifying smart thermostat in your home. Both tenants* and homeowners, no matter how much energy you use, qualify!
- Complete your enrollment by following steps specific to your thermostat's manufacturer. Found here.
- The Peak Savings Program syncs with your smart thermostat to understand what keeps you comfortable and how your home uses energy.
- On very hot days when demand for energy peaks, the program may schedule a Peak Event. You are notified of these events 24+ hours in advance by e-mail.
- Prior to the event, your smart thermostat automatically pre-cools your home to ensure your comfort, then lowers your energy usage slightly during the peak period to conserve energy.
- Events trigger a temperature change of no more than three degrees and the event will last two or four hours.
- Your smart thermostat adjusts back to your preprogrammed cooling settings once the event is completed.
- You have the choice to opt out of any event−though doing so multiple times may end your program enrollment.
THERE ARE TWO WAYS TO PARTICIPATE!

If you already have a qualifying smart thermostat, you can enroll your thermostat today! You'll receive a $50 sign-up bonus and $50 each year you participate in Peak Savings.
