Rattlesnakes are active in warm weather.
- Always stay on designated trails.
- Always look before reaching around a bush.
- Keep your dog on a leash at all times.
- Avoid tall grasses, and climbing over rocks and wood piles without first looking to see if a snake is there.
- Never try to pick up or handle a snake.
- Wear boots and long pants when hiking or working outdoors.
- Your best line of defense is to leave the snake alone and alert others in the area to the presence of the snake.
