Let's Continue To Conserve Water Together!
On August 10, 2021, the Glendale City Council implemented Phase II of GWP's Water Conservation Ordinance. Glendale and many cities in the State that rely on water from the State Water Project are moving towards Mandatory Water Conservation due to a lack of expected runoff. Moving into Phase II also supports the Governor’s July 8th Emergency Declaration requesting voluntary conservation for all areas of the State.
Phase II of the Mandatory Water Conservation Ordinance will limit outside watering to three days a week: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for no more than 10 minutes at each watering station. Irrigation by a drip irrigation system or with low-flow sprinkler heads that require additional watering time are exempt from the 10 minute time limitation, but such irrigation shall be limited to the permitted irrigation days and times of day.
The City appreciates the efforts that residents have made to conserve water, and continues to encourage residents to be diligent in their water usage. The drought charge for Phase II of Mandatory Water Conservation is $0.30/HCF, which equates to about $.0004/gallon, or 40 cents for 1,000 gallons of water. The drought charge is intended to recover the portion of fixed expenses that is collected in the variable water rate. Customers who reduce their water use will either continue to receive the same bill, or have lower bills depending on how much water they conserve.

Introducing GWP's Online Power Outage Map & Outage Reporting System!
We are excited to announce the launch of GWP's new Outage Management System (OMS) and Integrated Voice Recognition (IVR) System for reporting outages, providing customers an online outage mapping tool to view real-time information about power outages. This new system will make it easier for customers to search or report a power outage via phone and GWP’s website.
The new OMS and IVR systems will enable GWP to better manage power outages and communicate with its customers. Glendale residents can see at a glance how many locations are affected by a power outage in the Glendale area. The OMS is used in the detection and restoration of electric outages and the IVR system is an automated telephone system that can interact with multiple customers in collaboration with the OMS to enhance communication during electric outages.
The OMS and IVR systems will assist GWP in quickly detecting outages, providing efficient operation response, and communicating more efficiently with customers, improving overall outage management and customer satisfaction.
The OMS and IVR systems offer the following features:
-
Report Power Outages - Ability to report an outage on GWP’s website www.GlendaleWaterAndPower.com, or by calling GWP’s Customer Service Department at (855) 550-4497 and providing detailed information to assist in resolving the outage quickly.
-
View Power Outage Map - An outage map that is available 24/7 on GWP’s website www.GlendaleWaterAndPower.com. The map refreshes every 5 minutes.
-
Check the Status - Ability for customers to check the status of an outage that affects them and determine the start time, number of customers affected, cause of the outage, and estimated time when service will be restored.
-
Power Outage Notifications/IVR System - IVR system support for English, Spanish, and Armenian languages. Notifications by phone, email, or text when power goes out or has been restored.

Electric Vehicle Incentives and Charging Information
Glendale residents can expect new EV chargers at the Glendale Marketplace Parking Structure and the Glendale Transportation Center later this year. GWP will also have one solar powered, transportable EV charger in Glendale in the near future. This unit charges EVs using solar power and without the need to be connected to the electric grid. Since it’s transportable and has an emergency power panel, it can also be used as a power source for first responders during emergency situations.
We have also increased incentives for our EV charging station rebate program as of July 1, 2021. Residential customers can receive $599 for the purchase and installation of a hardwired Wi-Fi EV charger. Commercial/Multi-family customers can receive $3,000 for the purchase and installation of a smart charging station, and an additional $3,000 if they meet certain criteria. Commercial/Multi-family customers can receive a maximum of $50,000 for installing EV chargers at their property.
Don’t have an electric vehicle? As a GWP Customer, you are eligible for multiple federal, state, and local programs that can substantially reduce the cost of purchasing, leasing, and owning an EV.

Enroll in GWP's Peak Savings Program!
Let us help you save energy and money with our new Peak Savings program.
How it works for Residents:
On days when demand on the electric grid is extremely high, the Peak Savings program uses your smart thermostat to automatically manage your energy use. While the program only adjusts the temperature by 3 degrees or less, it makes a big difference in reducing demand and keeping costs low. Most people don’t notice a difference.
Enrolled residential customers will receive a $50 incentive for signing up and will also receive $50 each year on their enrollment anniversary. Customers that don’t have a smart thermostat can receive a $100 instant rebate on the purchase price of a new thermostat, and will also receive $50 each year on their enrollment anniversary.
How it works for Businesses:
GWP will provide a free facility walkthrough, outline ways that your facility can reduce energy during peak demand periods (called events), and provide you with an energy reduction plan for events. You will be notified the day prior to a peak event, and you implement the energy reduction plan the day of the event during the specified times.
Business customers can receive up to $250 per event for implementing their energy reduction plan. Up to 15 peak events can be called each year, so the savings can really add up!
