COVID-19 Updates

Youth Sports Are Back in Fullerton

On February 19, 2021, the California Department of Public Health issued new guidelines to facilitate resuming youth sports competitions after nearly a year without games.

Fullerton youth sports competition can resume on Friday, February 26th, with modifications, as the County of Orange’s adjusted daily case rate per 100,000 dipped below the threshold level of 14 to 11.9.

Sports in the low and moderate contact categories (softball, baseball, and cheerleading) can proceed without testing.  In the high-contact category (football, soccer, rugby – sports that are likely to be played without masks) testing may be required for players 13 and older.  Players under 13 are exempt from testing.  Test results must be available within 24 hours of competitions.

Despite the green light for competition, parents must sign consent waivers stating that playing within the new guidelines still may bring a risk of contracting COVID-19. Read more here.
