Step into spring with April's highlights, takeaways, and opportunities. Here’s the TL;DR of this month's issue:

The CMTA Women Making California event was a remarkable gathering of trailblazers, changemakers, and leaders shaping the future of the Golden State. Hosted by CMTA, the event brought together influential women from various industries to share insights, inspire innovation, and foster meaningful connections.
Attendees engaged in dynamic discussions on leadership, workforce development, and the evolving role of women in driving California’s economy. Keynote speakers and panelists highlighted success stories, challenges overcome, and the collective power of women in shaping policy and industry growth. Ohlone’s very own Dr. Rose-Margaret Itua won the Service Impact Award for making strides connecting students to local business resources but also her work introducing youth to careers in STEAM.
Fremont continues to grow as North America’s leading hub for AI data enter server manufacturing. With a tenant base that includes Quanta Computer, TD Synnex, AMAX, & Penguin Solutions, Fremont has become the preeminent location for Silicon Valley server solutions providers. In the past month, AI datacenter server makers Mitac Information Systems, Aivres, & Super Micro Computer each leased or renewed in deals north of 100,000 square feet of new space in Fremont. Notably, Aivres is expanding into a 265,000 square foot former Safeway distribution facility that has been upgraded with additional power, speaking to the demand for industrial space in Fremont from advanced manufacturing companies.
On March 6, industry professionals gathered at Fremont’s Downtown Event Center for the 2025 Silicon Valley Outlook, hosted by The Registry. This premier event brought together thought leaders to discuss the regional economy, emerging commercial real estate trends, and bold predictions for the future of Silicon Valley.
Attendees enjoyed an evening of insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and engaging conversations with Fremont City staff and elected officials. Light refreshments were served as guests connected with peers and industry experts, making the event a valuable experience for all who participated.
Thank you to everyone who joined us—we appreciate your engagement and look forward to seeing you at future events!
Ares Asset Management’s Fremont 880 Tech Center campus project has secured its first tenant with Mitac Information Systems, a leading AI hardware and datacenter server manufacture, taking the largest of three buildings totaling nearly 400,000 square feet. A former retail-zoned site, Fremont 880 Tech Center was approved for rezoning in 2022 and completed construction in Q1. ED staff have been pleased with tenant interest in the remaining two buildings of the project which boasts both centrality and easy access to 880 Freeway. We expect to share more leasing news soon!

On March 5, industry leaders, innovators, and retail professionals gathered at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View for The Econic Company's Retail Summit 2025. The event provided a deep dive into the latest trends shaping the future of retail, featuring expert discussions on emerging technologies, consumer behavior shifts, and innovative strategies for growth. Later in the month, the Economic Development team attended ICSC Monterey, a productive two-day conference that included meetings with Fremont stakeholders (brokers, tenant reps, property managers, developers) and insights from industry veterans. The conversations left us encouraged about the opportunities to bring new commercial concepts to Fremont and backfill larger format retail spaces that have recently vacated.
Come out for the 3rd Annual Arts Mosaic on Saturday, April 26, from 11 AM to 4 PM at Ellsworth Avenue (between Washington Blvd. & Grove Ave.). There's no shortage of doom and gloom in the news when talking about urban downtowns. From crime to blight, downtown stakeholders grapple with myriad issues while putting together creative, resourceful, and collaborative ways to reinvigorate urban spaces. At this year's West Coast Urban District Forum held in San Francisco, discussions centered on how stewardship, programming, arts and culture, innovation and transformation are key to reimagining our downtowns.
Our Director of Economic Development Donovan Lazaro was invited to participate on a panel to share how the City of Fremont tapped into our Downtown's development potential through supportive land use and zoning, marketing, placemaking activations, and building relationships with developers and brokers as we continue to build Downtown Fremont from scratch.
