As Fremont’s Downtown continues to take shape, we’re excited to host a variety of family-friendly events to keep the vibes good and enthusiasm high. The new lineup includes an inaugural Downtown Sip and Stroll, “Dog Days” events, and major holiday celebrations. In addition, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce continues to expand its mainstay lineup of events including Fremont Street Eats, the Burger and Brew Fest, and the iconic Festival of the Arts. Developed by Hines, the Milmont Industrial project is a 267,000-square-foot Class A advanced manufacturing facility. The development is rapidly taking shape, with an expected completion in Q1.
Located on Milmont Drive, in the heart of Fremont’s Advanced Manufacturing Row, the facility is already seeing significant interest amongst advanced manufacturing tenants. The project, which is expected to achieve a new watermark for leasing rates, underscores Fremont’s strength as Silicon Valley’s leading industrial hub. We are excited to see this project near completion and which company will call this facility home!
Fremont has long been recognized as a hub for biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing. With over 100 leading biomedical companies calling the city home, Fremont has adopted the moniker of being where “Biomed Goes to Scale.”
Among these leaders is Bionova, a biologics CDMO (contract development & marketing organization) that contributes greatly to the region’s biopharmaceutical ecosystem. Having operated exclusively in Fremont since its inception, Bionova stands out as a 100% homegrown success story.
As Bionova nears the grand opening of a new Process Development and Pilot Plant Facility in Fremont’s Bayside Technology Park, we are proud to continue our longstanding partnership with Bionova and congratulate them on this exciting milestone.
Every year, the first Friday of October marks National Manufacturing Day, an initiative to inspire the next generation of advanced manufacturing workforce. Given the anticipated growth and reshoring of manufacturing jobs with the CHIPS Act and Inflation Reduction Act, Fremont is proud to bring together local industry and school partners to shed light on the wide range of fulfilling career paths that students can pursue in our semiconductor, biotech, cleantech, robotics, autotech, and now—artificial intelligence—industries.
For 2024’s Manufacturing Week, our team organized 16 tours for over 500 students from Ohlone College, Mission Valley ROP, San Jose State, FUSD, and CSU East Bay at leading companies including Tesla, Boehringer Ingelheim, Nextracker, and Quanta Manufacturing. 2025 marks Fremont’s 14th Annual Manufacturing Week, and we will look to go bigger than ever and continue the tradition of inspiring tomorrow’s workforce leaders.
As Downtown Fremont continues to take shape, the community can look forward to an exciting lineup of new ground-floor retailers opening in 2025 at Capitol Square, The Tolman Project and The Beacon. Each new addition adds to the creation of a vibrant and dynamic downtown atmosphere.
The Tolman Project on Capitol Avenue will feature three retail spaces totaling approximately 5,700 square feet that are currently being built out. There has been significant interest in ground floor commercial spaces, just as new residents begin to move into the upstairs units.
Down the street, Paradox Barbershop is now open and planning its grand opening soon, while Pints of Joy, a small-batch ice cream shop, will open shortly.
At The Beacon, Palmetto Superfoods, known for its refreshing açaí bowls, is expanding to Fremont, and Pour Decisions is bringing its unique craft coffee and beer taproom experience to Downtown Fremont, creating a cozy community space to relax and unwind.
 8. Fremont Commercial Real Estate Bus Tour Coming Soon
We’re excited about an upcoming exclusive bus tour hosted by The Registry, showcasing key projects and economic drivers shaping Fremont’s economy. This event will offer a glimpse into transformative developments and strategic initiatives fueling regional growth, innovation, and investment. It’s a unique opportunity to connect with local leaders and explore the forces driving the area’s dynamic business environment!
 9. Advancement of Brookfield City Center Mega Project
We’re looking forward to Brookfield Properties’ exciting plans for the redevelopment of the Wells Fargo site in Fremont. The proposed project envisions transforming the underutilized property into a vibrant, transit-oriented, and pedestrian-friendly community in Fremont’s City Center / Downtown area. Located near popular retail hubs like Fremont Hub and Gateway Plaza, as well as amenities like Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, this development is perfectly positioned to increase rooftop density in the City’s core that will support expanding retail offerings. With Fremont’s housing market showing strong growth, this project represents a forward-thinking investment in the City’s future!
We’re thrilled about Wisk Aero expanding their footprint in Fremont, solidifying their position as a leader in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). As one of the few major stakeholders in the cutting-edge eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) robotaxi industry, Wisk is shaping the future of transportation. With over a decade of innovation and six generations of aircraft, they’ve built the industry’s largest fleet of self-flying, all-electric, four-seat air taxis.
Already a leader in auto-tech and clean-tech, Fremont is now on the cusp of becoming a leader in the emerging eVTOL industry. We're excited to witness the continuing evolution of this emerging industry and solidify Fremont's role in helping it take off!
Fremont’s cleantech industries present exciting new technologies while also meeting the challenge to fight climate change and align with electrification goals. From clean hydrogen production, energy grid resilience, to more sophisticated energy storage solutions and production of various electric vehicles, Fremont is a hub for the cleantech industry. Buoyed further by the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, Fremont is seeing unprecedented investment in this emerging market. We are excited to tell these stories of the transformational work being done in our community—stay tuned!
 12. The 2nd Annual Engineering Expo Returns This Spring
The Fremont Engineering Expo is back! Last year’s event drew over 1,000 attendees to Downtown Fremont, with more than 300 students showcasing their creative and technical projects. Local companies also engaged the community with interactive displays and career insights. In partnership with FUSD and Mission Valley ROP, this event highlights Fremont’s innovative spirit and inspires the next generation of makers and engineers. Stay tuned for details, and don’t miss this celebration of creativity!
