Sunny Days and Exciting News: Your July Economic Development monthly update!
Here’s the TL;DR of this month's issue:

We would like to thank everyone who joined us at the Future of Fremont event hosted by the Silicon Valley Business Journal earlier this month! Nearly 200 attendees gathered at the Downtown Event Center to hear from experts who are helping to shape Fremont's future.
From pioneering industries like advanced manufacturing and cleantech; to major development projects, such as the opening of Fremont Bank and numerous additions to Capitol Avenue; to innovative workforce programs like Ohlone College’s Earn and Learn Program as well as Tesla’s Employee Education Assistance (EEA) Program, Fremont has many exciting stories to share. The main takeaway from the event: amidst a challenging macroeconomic environment, Fremont remains a bright spot for investment and its best days are ahead.

Economic Development staff and California Manufacturers & Technology Association (CMTA)’s VP of Communications Ananda Rochita had the pleasure of visiting Thermo Fisher Scientific, one of Fremont’s leading biomedical companies. Their Fremont hub specializes in niche diagnostics, focusing on the development and production of innovative diagnostic tools and technologies. This facility plays a crucial role in advancing healthcare by providing high-quality diagnostic solutions that enable more accurate and timely disease detection and management.
Recently, the City of Fremont became the first municipal member of CMTA, joining many of its employers who are also members, to support CA’s diverse manufacturing sector, the largest of any state in the US.

Staff from Fremont’s Planning Division and Economic Development had an opportunity to tour the nearly completed Fremont Tech Center, an industrial campus developed by Scannell and Ares Management with direct access to I-880 via Stevenson Blvd. At nearly 400K square feet across three modern Class A industrial buildings, the project provides opportunities for new and existing Fremont businesses to locate and expand. We are excited to see which companies will call Fremont Tech Center home!

A new mixed-use development project has been approved for Downtown Fremont at the corner of Paseo Padre Parkway and Capitol Avenue at 39039 Paseo Padre Parkway. Led by the Deccan Pacific Group, the eight-story mixed-use building will include 179 market-rate apartment units, 8,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space, and a parking garage. While economic conditions will determine the construction start date, the vision for this project is a major step forward for Downtown Fremont and the continued transformation of Capitol Avenue. The building is slated to feature pedestrian-oriented commercial space along Capitol Avenue, which will bring more activity to the area, increase economic vitality, and expand the range of goods and services offered to the community. The project will be located within walking distance of the Fremont BART Station and will help support the City’s overall housing goals. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting future project for Downtown!
