Fontana’s Virtual 4th of July Celebration

4th of July

Fontana, Calif. - The Fourth is for families, and this 4th of July, the Community Services Department (CSD) has created virtual experiences for the entire family to enjoy, including a community recipe contest.

In lieu of a Fireworks Celebration at Fontana High School, the event will take place online and on TV. CSD has taken the most memorable snippets of previous Fontana firework shows and compiled them into one epic 4th of July celebration. Gather around your living room on Saturday, July 4th at 5:00 p.m. and tune into KFON-TV or Facebook for a virtual watch party.

KFON-TV can be accessed on Spectrum Cable, Channel 3; Frontier Communications FiOS, Channel 38 and AT&T U-Verse, Channel 99. No cable? No problem. Watch the event on YouTube, the City's website, and Facebook.

If you make a festive 4th of July/Summertime recipe, submit a photo and the recipe for the chance to win prizes. To participate in the contest:

  • Submit the recipe and photo via one of the City’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) using the hashtag #FontanaFood or email both the recipe and photo to *If your account is private, please use the email option
  • Deadline to submit recipe with photo is Friday, June 26
  • 5 entries will be randomly selected on June 29 and win a 4th of July gift bag for your family celebration

We are excited to see everyone’s recipes and photos!

Bring on the sparklers and fountains as you join the citywide campaign to Say NO to Illegal Fireworks. Safe and Sane fireworks are permitted in the areas south of Summit Avenue, and booths will be set up throughout the City selling Safe and Sane fireworks from June 28th through July 5th.

The City of Fontana, Fontana Police Department, and San Bernardino County Fire Department launched an awareness and enforcement campaign to prevent the use, sale and possession of illegal fireworks. Fines for possession and use of illegal fireworks range from $2,500 to $10,000. Fireworks not in direct control of the operator or that explode, shoot into the air, move along the ground and are not approved by the California State Fire Marshal are deemed dangerous, and are illegal everywhere in the state of California.

Residents can report illegal fireworks to (909) 350-7700 or WeTip hotline at 1-800-47-Arson.

As much as we want to bring everyone together in-person to celebrate the holiday, the health and safety of our community is our greatest concern. Due to state restrictions on gatherings, we are unable to grant block party permits. Thank you for your understanding. The City of Fontana wishes our residents a happy and safe 4th of July holiday.
