New Lighting to Be Installed at Fontana's Parks

Fernandez Park

Fernandez Park will be receiving upgraded lights

Fontana, Calif.- Parks in Fontana are going to shine brighter due to a new LED lighting upgrade project beginning in March.

During the January 28, 2020 council meeting, the Fontana City Council approved to enter into a $3.7 million dollar contract with Alliance Building Solutions Inc. to conduct the upgrades. The scope of work includes replacing the existing high intensity discharge (HIC), incandescent, and fluorescent lighting systems with light emitting diode (LED) systems. The upgrades also include installation of new equipment.

The energy efficient project will improve the security lighting and sports field lighting at existing parks, while reducing the amount of hours spent on maintenance.

The first parks that will be receiving the upgraded lights include:

  • Jack Bulik
  • Veterans
  • Bill Martin
  • Jurupa Hills/Martin Tudor
  • North Tamarind

The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2021.
