City of Fontana Public Works Director Appointed as Deputy City Manager

Fontana, Calif.- Public Works Director, Chuck Hays, was appointed to the position of Deputy City Manager of Development Services for the City of Fontana during the January 28, 2020, City Council meeting.

Hays has been serving Fontana for 18 years. During the council meeting, Mr. Hays addressed the council reflecting on his time with the City of Fontana. "In those 18 years, the City Council has invested over a quarter of a billion dollars worth of park improvement projects for the community. I was the lucky person chosen to manage those projects. I look forward to many many more years...I am very proud to work for this remarkable City."

As the Deputy City Manager of Development Services, Mr. Hays will manage and direct the Engineering, Community Development, Building and Safety, and Public Works Departments. Hays is filling the role of the Deputy City Manager who retired in December 2019. 

"We are confident in Mr. Hays' leadership abilities," states Interim City Manager Michael Milhiser. "His wealth of experience and knowledge will continue to keep Fontana moving forward."
