Fontana, Calif.- The City of Fontana is highlighting the Planning Commission during National Planning Month to recognize the key role they play in serving as an advisory and decision-making body to the City Council on a variety of planning and development proposals. The five members of the commission are residents who are appointed by City Council and have a passion for planning, development, and who want to implement the community vision one project at a time.

The member’s duties consist of:

  • Assuring that development applications are within the community vision and functions as the decision-making body for proposals.
  • Deciding on a variety of land use matters such as community plans, design reviews and more.
  • Making recommendations to the City Council on issues such as annexations, the general plan, and development policy issues.

The commission's overall goal is to ensure that the general plan is adhered to so that each project meets the needs of a growing city and provides a greater quality of life for current and future residents of Fontana.

The Planning Commission invites the community to attend the next commission meeting taking place on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. inside the City Council Chambers. The commission utilizes public hearings, where residents, business community members, and concerned citizens are encouraged to participate in the discussion and decision process.
