City Offering Three Cybersecurity Awareness Workshops

Fontana, Calif.- In honor of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the City of Fontana is offering workshops October 22 through 24 to bring awareness to cybersecurity and teach participants how they can help protect themselves from cyber attacks. 

The workshops are on:

  • Tuesday, October 22 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Don Day Community Center (14501 Live Oak Ave)
  • Wednesday, October 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Fontana Ceres Senior Center (16710 Ceres Ave)
  • October 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Jessie Turner Center (15556 Summit Ave)

Attendees will learn how to create strong passphrases, how to spot and report a phishing scam, the importance of software updates, and more. 

The workshops are open to all ages and do not require registration. 

The cybersecurity outreach is part of a month-long awareness campaign which includes tips to be safe and secure online, along with weekly quizzes to test cybersecurity knowledge via the City’s social media accounts. There is currently a book display at the Lewis Library in Fontana promoting cybersecurity safety tips and books.
