Residents Invited to Attend Final Community Meeting for Citywide Landscaping Plan

Urban Greening Landscape Community Meeting 3

Fontana, Calif.- The City of Fontana, in partnership with the Southern California Association of Governments, is in the process of developing a citywide landscaping plan - the Urban Greening Master Plan. Residents are invited to share their thoughts on implementation strategies at the final community meeting held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Development Advisory Board meeting room in Fontana City Hall (8353 Sierra Ave.).

The first community meeting, held December 2018, focused on the Urban Greening Master Plan and how it affects climate, air quality, economic development, water usage and more. The plan aims to:

  • Encourage active transportation (spend more time outdoors)
  • Increase water/energy efficiency
  • Establish policy and ordinances resulting in a sustainable landscaping scheme
  • Improve citywide air quality

The second meeting, held March 2019, asked attendees to decide which landscapes would be most beneficial and appealing depending on specific developments such as residential and commercial.
