Fontana's Senior Transportation Program Featured in Newest AARP Book

AARP Where We Live

Fontana, Calif., - The City of Fontana and its Senior Transportation Program is featured in the American Association of Retired Persons' (AARP) newest edition of Where We Live: Communities for All Ages. The article highlights the program's solution to mobility difficulties that may arise for senior citizens.

"We are thrilled that the AARP continues to share our efforts to enhance the quality of life for our senior citizen population by featuring us in their publication, stated Fontana Mayor Acquanetta Warren. " The City of Fontana Senior Transportation Program is committed to providing affordable and reliable transportation for those in need of our services."

The Senior Transportation Program provides senior citizens (55 and older) and medically disabled residents rides to locations such as shopping centers, doctor's offices, hospitals and more. The program averages approximately 50,000 rides a year. According to the AARP book, "on-call transportation services can be lifesaving. 'Without it I wouldn’t be able to go anywhere,' says a Fontana rider named Melba. 'And then I would totally give up.'”
