Fontana, Calif.- Thinking about building a pool, attaching a room, constructing a fence or adding solar panels to your property? Then you'll want to visit the City of Fontana's Building and Safety Division to get your construction project off to the right start. Join the City of Fontana Building and Safety Division during the month of May to learn all about what it takes to create and maintain safe, sustainable structures in the community. The month-long celebration is an opportunity to bring awareness to the team of dedicated inspectors, plan checkers, permit aides and technicians who enforce building codes to protect lives, public safety and property.

The Building and Safety Division helps homeowners, building owners and business owners create safe and sustainable structures through an efficient permit process that ensures compliance with modern building codes.

"Building and Safety month plays an important role each year in our department, because it gives the Division an opportunity to present our background and importance to the public. Whether you’re a homeowner or contractor, our information can be of important use no matter how big or small your proposed project is," states Building Official Gil Estrada.

Building and Safety Month (BSM), founded by the International Code Council is celebrated by jurisdictions worldwide during the month of May. This year’s theme for Building & Safety Month is Building Codes Save Lives. Each week in May, the campaign focuses on a unique topic that highlights one facet of what Building Code Professionals (like those at the City of Fontana) can do to serve their communities. Within each week, Fontana Building and Safety staff has organized educational activities to share about the profession.
